Have you made your plans for the weekend yet? If not, don’t sweat it. With two major events, there will be plenty of activities for you to enjoy all weekend long. Mark your calendars! It’s going to be a big weekend in Port Jefferson.
If you’re familiar with the area, you know that the Annual Taste of Port Jefferson at the Port Jefferson Village Center is an event you don’t want to miss. Hosted by the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, the event will celebrate its 4th consecutive year with over 30 restaurants, breweries, eateries and more. But don’t wait all day to join the fun. Festivities begin at 12pm and will commence at 4pm.
Make sure you save your energy! The rest of the weekend only gets better. Come out to the Second Annual Harvest Festival, taking place on Sunday, October 23rd. The event will be sponsored by the Economic Development Committee, an organization that I have proudly served on for over two years. We had a great turn out during the Fest’s debut last fall, with one of the biggest turnouts in Port Jefferson’s event history. We only expect great things for this year, and hope everyone will come out to support the event.
Among the Fest’s favorite activities and set to return again this year is the New England Clam Chowder Contest. A cup can be purchased for $5 in front of the Village Way Restaurant, the returning and defending champion of last year’s title. The cup can be used to taste all of the chowders served at the event. Don’t forget to vote! Pick up your voting sheet when purchasing your cup and make sure to get your vote in!
I know all that delicious chowder is going to be hard to walk away from…but don’t miss out on all the other great activities the Fest has in store. New this year will be wine tastings at Vine2Wine and Pindar store locations. Pumpkin decorating, face painting and wood carving will also be offered, along with live music, and of course, a parade of 100 costumed dogs down East Main Street. What could be cuter than that?
I hope this will motivate you to get out and enjoy everything Port Jefferson has to offer this weekend. Both events are expected to attract a large crowd, including guests from neighboring Long Island communities.
As a member of the Economic Development Committee and a real estate agent committed to my community, I hope to see you there!
