Thanksgiving Weekend Events in Port Jefferson

pumpkin_pumpkins_halloween_268991_lIt’s finally here! Thanksgiving crept up on us and soon we’ll all be sitting down for a delicious feast with family and friends. If you’re lucky, you have a couple of days off from your daily routine to spend time with your loved ones. But what should you do with your extended holiday weekend? There is always something going on in Port Jefferson that will get you out in the community taking in all that the area has to offer.

Most of us are in for a caloric day tomorrow, so why not jump start your metabolism by participating in Thanksgiving Day Training Runs hosted by Port Jeff Brewing Company? Gather Thanksgiving morning at 9:00am for a 10, 5 or 3 mile run through scenic Port Jefferson. Runners will start and end at Port Jeff Brewing Company where bagels and water will be provided as well as a free beer tasting for all finishers of the legal drinking age. This event is free to participate in, and donations of canned goods will be accepted for a local food pantry. All you have to do is download the form, turn it in and run!

If you’re not one to be up at the crack of dawn scavenging for the best deals on this season’s hottest gifts, take the day off on Friday to relax. With Christmas Day exactly one month away, head over to Theatre Three in Port Jefferson for a performance of A Christmas Carol. The show opened last weekend and will be the perfect kick-off to the Christmas season. If that doesn’t get you in the spirit, just wait for what Saturday has in store!

Clothing-Costume-Santa-43773-lIn last week’s post, I mentioned some of my favorite local businesses that will be great places to shop for everyone on your list this season. Earring Tabu, Lavender Fields, Greentique and Boardwalk Games are just a few of the wonderful local businesses I know I’ll be visiting to cross each name off of my shopping list. Port Jefferson is participating in Small Business Saturday this weekend which is strategically planned between “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” to really encourage people to shop locally. If you have an American Express card, make sure to register your credit card and use it on a purchase of $25 or more at a participating Port Jefferson business this Saturday to receive a $25 credit to your statement!

If A Christmas Carol and holiday shopping haven’t gotten you in the Christmas spirit yet, make sure you’re on Main Street at 1:00pm on Saturday. The Santa Parade followed by a visit to “Santa’s Workshop” at Barnum and West Broadway presents a great photo opportunity (bring your own camera – this will be perfect for homemade Christmas cards!).

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to make sure I thank all of my clients for their continued business over the years and for their support during a difficult real estate market. It’s so great to be able to be a part of a team when it comes to helping my clients sell their home or buy a home in Port Jefferson. If you need any assistance in the Port Jefferson real estate market, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

    Happy Thanksgiving!
