    Look no further!  We have compiled the following events for you to enjoy during the beautiful month of September in and around the Port Jefferson Area.  Please verify any fees and availability before attending.


    • September 1- Enter LEGO building contest Ward Melville Heritage Organization
    • September 2 – Visit Mirabelle Tavern!  Tuesday is Tap and App Specials
    • September 3  – Port Jefferson library Guided Meditation Program
    • September 4 –  Take a trip to Foxwood Casino departing from the Port Jefferson Ferry.  Find the reservation information on the Hampton Jitney Website.
    • September 5 – Take the whole family for a hike at West Meadow Beach to view the Full Moon!  Enjoy a rare opportunity to hike down Trustees Road at night. Participants will learn about  nocturnal animals that live at West Meadow Beach by searching for clues and solving riddles. If  the skies are clear we will use a spotting scope to look at the basic lunar features such as mares and craters.
    • September 6 –  Port Jefferson Village Cup Regatta.  The Setauket Yacht Club, the Village of Port Jefferson, Mather Hospital, the Port Jefferson Conservancy and the Lustgarten Foundation, created this community event last year to raise money in their fight against pancreatic cancer.  For more information contact the Mayor’s Office at (631) 473-4724.
    • September 7 – Third Annual Benner’s Farm Fiddle and Folk Festival 
    • September 8 –  Trivia Night Tuesdays at C’est Cheese in Port Jefferson.
    • September 9 – Fall Menu Debut at the 5th Season Restaurant in Port Jefferson
    • September 10 – Salute to Heroes Concert at the Pennysaver Amphitheater.  Starring Lee Brice!
    • September 11 – Red Cross Blood Drive at Port Jefferson Elementary School
    • September 12 – Theatre Three Friday Night Face Off Improv and Comedy  FRIDAY NIGHT FACE OFF is Long Island’s longest running improv comedy show that the New York Times has called “Really Funny”,”Quick Witted”, and “A Late-Night Hit”. Using audience suggestions, FNFO pits two teams of improvisers against each other, in an all-out comedy championship! Think “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” on about a dozen Redbulls and completely uncensored! FNFO performs most Friday nights at 10:30 pm downstairs at Theatre Three. We serve beer, wine and other refreshments, and there is never a drink minimum.
    • September 13 – Stony Brook University Football Home Game vs. American International  @ 6pm.   Tickets on sale now.
    • September 14 – Every Sunday you can stroll down to the PJ Village Farmer’s Market in the (Frigate parking lot) and pick up your local produce and other tasty treats such as local honey, bread and baked goods, seafood, international specialties, plants and flower bouquets. Enjoy the Live music too.
    • September 15 – Take the Family on a local trip to the Sweetbriar Nature Center and Butterfly House in Smithtown.  Sweetbriar Nature Center is situated on 54 acres of varied garden, woodland, field and wetland habitats on the Nissequogue River. Hundreds of species of plants and animals make homes here.
    • September 16 – Mommy and Baby Yoga at the Avalon Park Barn.  Walk-ins welcome.
    • September 17 – Last Days for the Drawn Work Art Exhibit at Gallery North in East Setauket.  Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, Gallery North is pleased to present The Drawn Word, an exhibition of Comics and Graphic Novels.  This exciting exhibition has brought together the work of 18 prolific artists whose work has graced the pages of countless magazines, newspapers and books. From Egyptian hieroglyphs and the caricatures of French artist, Daumier, to the serialized strips of Smitty (by Walter Berndt), comics have been around for centuries.
    • September 18 – Thursday night Drink-In Outdoor Film at Harmony Vineyards in Stony Brook.
    • September 19 –  Lavender Fields Boutique  is pleased to be back in town! Now located conveniently on Wynn Lane in the heart of Port Jefferson village. Right across from Ruvo and around the corner from Old Fields. Lavender Fields is now called “The Shops at Lavender Fields” and carries a large selection of rugs, bedding, decor, bath and body products as well as candles and home fragrance. They are now teamed up with Thymely Designs featuring hand painted furniture, vintage furniture and one of a kind decor and Gina Louise Designs featuring Bohemian style clothing and jewelry, Gina’s lines are like no other. She is the sole designer and hand picks the materials from London to Milan and back her clothing lines are featured in stores across the nation.     • September 20 – The first inaugural Dragon Boat Race Festival will be held at the harbor of Port Jefferson Village on Saturday, September 20, 2014, 9:00 a.m (rain or shine). A committee of chamber members, county representatives and tourism professionals are bringing fun, competition and recreation to Port Jefferson’s Village beautiful harbor. This event will include local and regional teams coming together to race against each other in a series of heats. Novice teams are provided with instruction and all of the necessary equipment to race. The event will begin at 9 am and conclude at approximately 9 pm. Spectators are encouraged to come to Port Jefferson harbor with their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the festivities. Food vendors and music will keep the event lively for all throughout the day.
    • September 21 – Smithtown Historical Society County Fair  – we are proud to continue our tradition of carrying the past to present by hosting the Annual Smithtown Heritage Country Fair. This year’s celebration is sure to entertain with an assortment of appealing attractions. You will enjoy Antique Cars, Barn Animals, Blacksmithing, Children’s Games, Civil War Soldiers, Hay Rides, Old Time Base Ball, Pony Rides, Live Music, and much more. The Heritage Country Fair entrance gate is at 211 Middle Country Road and will be open from 10am-5pm. Parking is available across the street at 222 Middle County Road.     • September 22 –  PJ Library Apple Craft and Story Time.
    • September 23 – Threatre Three Young People’s Auditions for Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.Readings are provided.  A Christmas carol (“Christmas Is Coming”) will be taught. We will be double casting nine roles (for a total of eighteen young people). Rehearsals begin late September and are weeknights (beginning at 7 p.m.) and weekend mornings and/or afternoons. Young people must appear in half of the performances, including the student matinees.
    • September 24 – Visit the Bayles Boat House near the PJ Harbor.
    • September 25 – Its’ Free Family Drop-In Day at the Long Island Carriage Museum in Stony Brook.
    • September 26 – Fall into Fun Carnival in Mt. Sinai Heritage Park ( AKA the Wedge).
    • September 27 – Breast Cancer Victory Day – Free Family Festival – sponsored by Mather Hospital of Port Jefferson.
    • September 28 – Port Jefferson Village is Hosting the 9th Annual Music Festival.   Check out the schedule of events.
    • September 29 – Ladies Night Out at The Arden – a new PJ Lounge.
    • September 30 – Have you tried Mesita Coastal Cantina in Port Jefferson Village Yet?  Visit on Tuesday for Taco, Tunes, and Tequila Specials!
