    February Calendar of Event In & Around Port Jefferson and Greater Three Villages

     

     

    It’s February!

    No matter what the season and weather, there is always plenty going on in and around Port Jefferson and the greater Three Village area.   Whether you are heading to the Port Jeff Indoor Farmer’s market, or enjoying a brisk hike in Avalon Park, stay safe, stay warm and always have fun!

    February 1:  Port Jefferson Village Indoor Winter Farmers Market at the PJ Village Center every Sunday through April 26th 10:30-2:00.

    February 2:  Ground Hog Day.  What will Holtsville Hal Predict this year?  Find out at 7am at the Holtsville Ecology Site.

    February 3:  SUNY Stony Brook Staller Center is hosting the Emerson String Quartet at 8pm.  For more information contact:  632-2787.

    February 4:   The Ward Melville Heritage Organization Education and Cultural Center will be hosting a Children’s reading program for ages 3-5, Hot Cocoa & Marshmallows, at 10:30am  fee:  $3.00 for additional dates information contact 689-5888.

    February 5:   Patchogue Theater is Hosting Girls With Guitars Country Concert featuring 7 of the Hottest Women in Country Music Today!  Starring Maddie & Tae, Rae Lynn, Lauren Alaina, Katie Armiger, Kelsea Ballerini, & Kristy Lee cook.  Show starts at 7pm.  For additional information or to purchase tickets contact 631-207-1313.

    February 6:  Port Jefferson Middle School Drama Club Production of  School House Rock Jr. in the PJ HS Auditorium at 7pm.  Additional show time 1/7 at 2:15 pm.

    February 7:  Little Scientist 4 week youth program at the Port Jefferson Village Center.  Explore the scientific wonders of the world with your child at this hands-on program taught by Susan Sears.   Starts at 10:00am.  For additional information contact the PJ Village Recreation Department at 631-802-2160.

    February 8:  Chinese New Year Celebration Year of the Sheep at the Ward Melville Heritage Organization Educational and Cultural Center in Stony Brook Village.  Drumming, dancers and a nine-foot lion make this Chinese New Year Celebration an event to remember!  Festivities including: • Peter Brown Taiko Drums • Lion Dance Troop that will also give a Kung Foo demonstration • Spotlight Dance Academy Performance • A craft activity for the kids.  Program start time is 1:30.  For additional information, tickets $, advanced reservations call 689-5888.

    February 9:   Remember Valentine’s Day  is only 5 days away.  Better pick up that box of chocolate & make that dinner reservation for your loved ones!

    February 10:  Join the Green Teens club and earn community service hours while discussing environmental issues, creating eco friendly projects, and helping our community!  PJ Teen Center Green Teen Club Meeting 4pm.  For additional information contact 631-509-5707.

    February 11:  Port Jefferson Teen Center Random Acts of Kindness Card Making Program.  To celebrate Random Acts of Kindness week, we will be making cards to send to sick children in a local hospital to cheer them up.  4pm  631-509-5707

    February 12:  “Here’s to the Ladies” Fundraiser Event at Stony Brook Village ‘Ward Melville Heritage Organization Education and Cultural Center.  Treat your sweetheart to a pre-Valentine’s Day celebration of the greatest jazz standards written for… to… and about the ladies we love!  This performance of love songs from the American Song Book by Tom Manuel & His Quartet also includes a three-course buffet dinner with wine catered by Latitude 121.     February 13:  Susan Rogers Designs in Port Jefferson Village is hosting a Glass Fusing Workshop with Eileen Baumeister McIntrye.

    February 18: Walking With The Dinosaurs at Stony Brook Village Educational & Cultural Center.   Our knowledgeable instructor will lead three  days of  science, crafts, and imagination for children ages 3-5.  Space is limited, so advance registration for both the morning (10 – 11:30 am) and afternoon (12:30 – 2 pm) sessions are required and cost $50 per child for all three days.  For additional Information:  631-689-5888.

    February 20:  Joplin’s Pearl featuring Amber Ferrari at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson Village.  Amber is a powerhouse and during the first half of her show she will perform the music of JEFFERSON AIRPLANE, PAT BENATAR and others plus her original music and more!     February 24:  Fathom Events, Arts Alliance, and Seventh Art Productions are elated to bring the once-in-a-lifetime exhibition, Rembrandt: The Late Works to Stony Brook Loews Theatre for an extraordinary one-night event.  Take a journey through this exclusive exhibit, curated by London’s National Gallery and Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum, which focuses on the final years of Rembrandt’s life.
