It is apparent that the essence of the art world has made a tremendous move and migrated east – out of the NYC galleries and trendy venues – to the streets, parks and many fine galleries and multi use venues that exist now on Long Island. Art is everywhere !
In Port Jefferson – a recent retrospective exhibit of Frances Campani’s pastels welcomed a fantastic crowd at the Port Jefferson Village Center – where on it’s walls , hung a brilliant array of her work for all to enjoy. The exhibit continues until April 26th . To further showcase all the talent cantained here in our own community, the Economic Development Committeee plans to sponsor Port Jefferson’s first Art and Dog walk May 20th and 21st . There will be dozens of artists, displaying a variety of media, throughout our wonderful seaside village–within the Village Center, on the sidewalks and greens, and within some participating shops. This is anticipated to be a huge draw and an event not to be missed.
Not far away, Gallery North ….. will be hosting their annual wet paint festival in Stony Brook from July 8th~ 10th. Where else can one experience the visual , personal and spectacular opportunity to meet the artist , see their work of beauty and enjoy the stories that their painting tells ? We are incredibly fortunate !! And it doesn’t end there — the galleries are overflowing with talent – photogrophers with a keen eye – shadows, light and depth yet tell another story and capture the instant reflection of a lanscsape , a beautiful face , a sole flower.
